Navy veteran found a note on car window saying he didn’t belong

CHARLOTTE, NC (WJZY) — A U.S. Navy service member who was parked in a veteran parking lot at a retail store over the weekend returned to find a note in her car saying she wasn’t there.

Gina Danels said she thought at first, “Okay maybe it says thank you for your service; I’m in a veteran’s place!”

Then he looked closely. “So when I woke up there, I was like, ‘No, that’s a note.’ It was a quick read, and at first, I was like, ‘Huh? He said. “No, it says you shouldn’t be parking here.”

The Navy Chief has made a career to serve. “I joined right out of high school,” Denels said.

At first, it was something he did for his family.

“I joined for my dad but stayed for myself. Every time the reenlistment came, there was no other option for me,” said Daniels, who has served for 18 years.

During her vacation, when she has time to fix up her house, she often goes to Lowes in Monroe, North Carolina. There is a parking lot near the front which has been set aside for veterans like him.

On Sunday, she said, she was on her way to her car when she saw a handwritten post affixed to her windshield.

“It says, ‘It’s a seasoned parking lot for a reason to service ‘there’,” read the Danals. “It is underlined twice. He wrote ‘there’, ‘there,’ he said, pointing to a grammatical error.

But then, the message began to sink in. He said that the person writing the note must be judging it and not looking at his car.

“If they judged it by the car alone, there would be army on the car. So, they didn’t judge it by the car, they had to judge it by my appearance,” said Daniels with his navy license plate on the front and the navy sticker on the back. Pointing to said.

She posted the note on social media and said that she immediately started hearing from others.

“A lot of my other military friends are like, ‘What? What’s going on here?’ Surprisingly, a lot of them wrote back with the same condition,” said Daniels.

He said that not all veterans are the same. There are some old, young, men and women, but he said they have one thing in common.

“The thing is, these are the people we fight for, so I’m not mad. You might be a little disappointed, but that’s what we fight for,” said Danels. “Let them put that note on my car. had freedom.”
