Earlier this month, a Corvette owner named Michael took his C8′ Vette to the dealership because of the constant engine ticking (it was just a loose spark plug). After taking the car back from the dealership, the owner was watching the video files car built-in Display Data Recorder (PDR), and got a surprise: t . one ofechs took his car on a drive that resulted in a stupid road race against a charger, where he killed 148 mph The good news is that the dealer did the right thing, and now Michael has a new Corvette.
owner first posted shocking story on reddit, And this was soon picked up by other media, including us GM Authority and the on-the-ball buddies at The Drive, who were able to talk to the owner.
PDR’s video shows a nearly 20-minute drive that includes several hard acceleration events that take the car to the redline and nearly 100 mph., and, in the video at about 10:50 We have a race with the Dodge Charger Where the top speed (which according to PDR data was 147.6) was reached.
Here’s a slightly edited version of the video posted on YouTube:
Usually in stories like this, what we did of course never seen before, then it gets pretty messy, the dealership usually goes into a complete denial/ irresponsibility defensive posture and makes everything difficult.
Surprisingly, that doesn’t seem to be the case here. dealership, Fremont Chevrolet, took full, irresponsible responsibility and arranged to replace the customer’s 2021 Corvette with a nice, new, unassuming 2022 ‘Vet’.
Michael talk to drive About dealer’s feedback:
“The dealership’s family owner reaches out to me… and I’m lying in bed and he tells me at nine o’clock or something, just apologizing that he wants to get it right. And then [he offers] me 2022 [Corvette], and it was quite shocking. I followed [the dealership’s general manager] The next morning and said ‘Hey, when can we meet?'”
We configured our 2022 together, [and] He let me press the submit button so that my order reaches the GM.”
After watching several of these dealership-employee-hoons-a-customer-car videos, this may be the best and most painless result I’ve ever seen. Together used car prices And the demand is still very intense, I’m sure the dealer won’t have a problem Looking forward to that 2021 Corvette, so it doesn’t look like they’ll really need to take a full bath here.
In addition, it should be Well-earned goodwill to the dealership, which learned a valuable lesson, but at least did the right thing.
